NEADS Conference 2004 - Right On!

Student Subsidy Program

In an attempt to increase the participation of students with disabilities who have unique equity concerns within the disability community and who study in smaller, generally under-represented communities/schools across Canada, NEADS is pleased to announce a Subsidy Program for the 2004 NEADS National Conference Right On! The National Conference will take place in Ottawa from November 12-14. Please visit http://www.neads.ca/conference2004/en/ for more information on the conference. Through this program, up to three students with disabilities will receive financial assistance to cover: travel expenses to Ottawa, hotel accommodation and conference registration.

The objectives of this program are to strengthen our national network, to provide an opportunity to students with disabilities whose experience is under-represented due to geographic isolation and unique equity issues faced within the disability community, and to encourage leadership in those interested in the goals of NEADS.

Those wishing to apply must live in Canada and be enrolled in a post-secondary institution.

Applications must include:

1. A letter of no more than 500 words explaining how attending the conference will: a) benefit the student b) benefit students with disabilities in the school/region of the applicant c) address the objectives of this travel subsidy program
2. Contact information (name, address, and telephone number)
3. Two (2) letters of support, one of which must come from the educational institution the applicant is attending.
