Workshop: Instructional strategies for transitioning to Unified English Braille (Montreal, April 24th, 2015)

Braille Literacy Canada (BLC) is pleased to offer a workshop on strategies to transition students to Unified English Braille (UEB). Note that this workshop does not provide instruction on the code itself.

This workshop will cover the following topics:

An overview of BLC activities;
An overview of braille in other English-speaking countries;
Instructional strategies (including a guide to help educators determine how and when to make the transition with their students);
Production options for textbooks and classroom handouts;
The financial impact of the transition to UEB;
Case studies and experiences with current students;
Assessment issues, including timelines for the production of exams in UEB; and
Acceptance of the new code.

The format for the workshop will include group discussion and case studies.

Cost: $50 for BLC members and $75 for non-members
