Share Your Voice: Community Forum for Robust Safeguards in Bill C-14 Thursday, June 16th

Be strong. Be safe. Be heard.

Canadians with disabilities are calling upon lawmakers to limit the practice of medically assisted death to persons at the end of life, who are free from inducement, and who are fully informed of all medical and social interventions that could ease their suffering.

Join a Community Forum for Robust Safeguards in Bill C-14 hosted by the National Disability Rights Community. This Thursday, June 16th in Ottawa, we will let Parliamentarians know what is at stake for disabled Canadians and their families in regulating medically assisted death.

This event continues a national conversation, launched by the National Disability Rights Community. We are Canadians with disabilities, their family members, supporters, and allies working to ensure that Bill C-14 protects vulnerable Canadians.

These are the final days before Bill C-14 becomes law. This is our chance to share our stories. Be heard on why our lives are worth living and why the law must protect people from being pressured to use the system to die.

We need your voice. Stand with us in Ottawa this Thursday.

The Vulnerable Persons Standard:

The Vulnerable Persons Standard is a series of evidence-based safeguards intended to protect the lives of Canadians.

These safeguards will help to ensure that Canadians requesting assistance from physicians to end their life can do so without jeopardizing the lives of vulnerable persons who may be subject to coercion and abuse.

We are calling on all members of Parliament to ensure that federal legislation regulating physician-assisted death incorporate these safeguards.
