Rethinking DisAbility in the private sector - Discussion in Halifax
Employment
Halifax, Nova Scotia
June 19, 2013

We all have abilities. Some are just more apparent than others Rethinking DisAbility in the private sector Wednesday, June 19th Please join us for a discussion around the recently released Report from the Panel on Labour Market Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities, titled Rethinking DisAbility in the private sector. Often we look at the hiring of people with disabilities as a nice thing to do. In fact the report found that hiring people with disabilities is good for your business. After panel consultations with private sector employers across the country, the Federal Ministers of Finance and Human Resources released the Panel’s Report. While there are barriers to hiring people with disabilities, whether real or simply perceived, they are more easily overcome than many believe and the benefits are measurable. Join us for an insightful look into the findings from this report with the Chair of the Federal Panel, Kenneth J. Fredeen as well as Robert Wood, the Deputy Minister of the Department of Community Services for the Government of Nova Scotia. Kenneth J. Fredeen is General Counsel, Secretary to the Board, and a member of the Leadership Team with Deloitte. He is also Chair of the Deloitte Diversity Council. In July 2012 Mr. Fredeen was appointed by the Government of Canada to Chair a Federal Panel to report on Labour Market Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities. The Panel reported on its findings in January 2013.
