MediaAnnouncing the NEADS Board of Directors for 2013-2014
We are pleased to announce the results of the nomination process for the 2013-2014 National Educational Association of Disabled Students (NEADS) Board of Directors. Nominations were filed for 8 of the 12 seats on the Board. The following directors were acclaimed in their positions and will serve for two years, commencing on January 01, 2013: Ms. Christine Nieder - British Columbia Director Debbie Ellis, Ian Murley, Julie Tee and Agnes Tomkow are retiring from the Board at the end of their current terms. Ian Murley will continue to serve the organization in the position of Past-President once his term as President is concluded.The following seats on the NEADS Board remain vacant: Saskatchewan Director; Prince Edward Island Director; Newfoundland and Labrador Director; and Territories Director. These seats will be filled by appointment, and we are now soliciting applications for the vacant positions. Applications will be accepted through December 07, 2012. Board members must be students with disabilities at any stage of their post-secondary education, or recent graduates, within 5 years of graduation from their program of study. Board members are expected to attend regular Board and committee teleconferences, participate in the business and decision-making of the organization, represent the Association at local, regional and provincial events as appropriate, and identify and work toward opportunities for the Association within their province/territory.
