ProjectsFaculty Awareness and Training in the Post-Secondary Community: An Annotated BibliographyCollège AhuntsicMontréal, Québec"Documents Maison"Reminders for teachersCollège Ahuntsic has developed a series of documents designed for teachers who are accommodating students with disabilities in their courses. Each document is intended as a reminder for these teachers and is provided before the beginning of the semester, following a meeting with the service provider to discuss the student and his or her needs. Collège Ahuntsic has not had much experience with students with disabilities enrolled in its courses. For example, in the last ten years there has been only one student with a visual impairment enrolled at this college. It is largely due to this fact that the documentation that is currently available pertains only to adaptations for certain populations of students with disabilities. The documentation available however is clear and concise (6-7 pages for each disability type) relevant and varied. The teacher has on hand all the policies, rules and regulations regarding the adaptations he or she will be expected to make in the classroom. The pamphlets also offer general information about the student and his or her disability. These documents give the teacher a list of persons and resources at their disposal should they need assistance and provides a description of "best practices" concerning adaptations in teaching style and classroom etiquette. Furthermore, the teacher is informed about policies for note-takers and other services for students with disabilities offered at the college. The following are some examples of the types of information in these documents:
