Montreal Job Search Strategies Forum Report

Introduction
The forum in Montreal, held at Le Centre Sheraton Hotel, was the sixteenth event in a six-year NEADS’ Job Search Strategies Forums Project, addressing practical aspects of successful transition from school to work. Delegates represented a number of colleges and universities in the Montreal area as well as some schools from other parts of Quebec, New Brunswick and Ontario. Student participants were attending the following post-secondary and secondary institutions: Bishop's University, Cégep Marie-Victorin, Cégep Régionale de Joliete, Cégep Saint Jean sur Richelieu, Collège Ahuntsic, Collège CDI, College Lasalle, Collège Multihexa, Concordia University, Dawson College, ÉMICA, ÉTS, HEC Montreal, John Abbott College, McGill University, UQAM, Université de Moncton, Université de Montréal, University of Ottawa.
Altogether 55 people took part in the day-long employment session: students, graduates, employers, career counsellors/professionals and representatives from non-governmental organizations.
The NEADS Montreal Job Search Strategies Forum included two workshop panels, an exhibit area, and one-on-one résumé consultations with career counsellors / HR professionals over the lunch period. The exhibit area included displays and representatives from: Association des paraplégiques du Québec - Mode d'emploi, L'Association québécoise des étudiants ayant des incapacités au postsecondaire (AQEIPS), RBC Financial Group, ROSEPH - Le Regroupement des organismes spécialisés pour l’emploi des personnes handicapées, Sphere-Quebec and TD Canada Trust.
