Raquel Baldwinson
Raquel Baldwinson is currently completing her M.A. in English (Rhetoric) at the University of British Columbia, for which she is writing a thesis entitled "The Canada Pension Plan Disability Application: Who Gets to be Disabled?" She also holds the position of Special Projects Lead at the Neglected Global Diseases Initiative, where she is working to develop a global, open-platform database for neglected diseases research. Through multiple experiences in academic and professional settings, Raquel has developed ways to navigate the complex process of making work possible with a disability that can at times be unpredictable, disruptive, and unproductive. Raquel will be sharing research on the rhetorical situation of disclosing as well as lessons learned through her personal experience negotiating special work arrangements at the office and at school.
