Employment Connections: A Transition Tool Kit for Youth with Disabilities

STEP Services – Career Options for Students with Disabilities

This program was launched in 1970 by the government of Manitoba, to increase the availability of student jobs. Career Options for Students with Disabilities is a component of STEP Services, which creates career-related opportunities within the provincial government for students with disabilities.

To be eligible, students must be at least 16 years old. Full-time students (60 percent minimum course load) who are Manitoba residents are given priority for available jobs. Students can register online at www.studentjobs.gov.mb.ca anytime during the year. The placement process for summer jobs is from January to mid-June. Placement for part-time employment is from September to April for university students, and September to mid-June for college students. Paper registration forms are available from:

Registration forms can also be obtained from university or college career centres, HRDC Employment Centres, Vocational Rehabilitation Counsellors, the Society for Manitobans with Disabilities, and other centres for youth across Manitoba.
