A Workshop on How to Make Your Educational Dollars Go Further!

(Vancouver, October 15, 2012) The National Educational Association of Disabled Students (NEADS) is pleased to announce an event like no other, addressing the important topics of financial literacy and financial aid entitled: Making Cents of Your Student Finances -- a Workshop on how to make your Educational Dollars Go Further! This half day workshop for students with disabilities will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2012 from 8:30 A.M. to 1:30 P.M., at the Hilton Hotel Vancouver Metrotown, 6083 McKay Avenue, Burnaby, British Columbia.

By attending this workshop you can learn about:

  • Budgeting and managing money while in school
  • Borrowing and how to access student Financial Aid Programs
  • Saving and financial planning that can benefit you, now and in the future
  • Preparing effective scholarship applications that will impress
  • How to work with your college’s or university’s Financial Aid/Student Awards office

The workshop will include a keynote presentation by Murray Baker, author of the best-selling book “The Debt Free Graduate.” Baker is a leader in financial planning for post-secondary students in North America with over 145,000 copies of his book sold in Canada.”As Canadian tuition costs are rising much faster than inflation, all students must become more astute at managing their money,” said Baker.

“Students with disabilities however, often incur expenses above and beyond those faced by most students, making it even more imperative that they manage their money wisely. The NEADS event is an innovative workshop that addresses these unique financial issues and provides students with the knowledge and skills they need to manage these particular challenges.”
