Federal Programs for Students

Summer Language Bursary Program

This program provides bursaries to Canadian students, to study either English or French as a second language at participating post-secondary schools across Canada. The program involves a five-week immersion course, featuring a mix of in-class instruction and community cultural events. Students are either placed in a college, university or CEGEP residence, or with a family for the duration of the program. Accommodation and meal expenses are covered by the bursary.

Canadian students who have completed at least grade 11 (or secondaire V in Quebec), and who are enrolled as a full-time student for at least one semester, are eligible to apply for the Summer Language Bursary Program.

For more information, contact the Department of Canadian Heritage office nearest you, as listed in the Government of Canada pages in the telephone book.
