Prince Edward Island Student Loans
Prince Edward Island’s student loans are designed to provide financial
assistance if you can’t afford, but wish to attend a post-secondary institution.
The federal and provincial governments approve loans to help in
your studies under the criteria agreed upon by the two levels of government.
You, however, are mainly responsible for paying for your own
education through careful planning, summer jobs and savings.
Assistance will be issued on the basis of your calculated need. Under
the Student Loan Program, parents and spouses may also be expected
to contribute financially to your education. To determine your financial
need, resources available to you and your family, if applicable, are
subtracted from your total education costs.
To qualify for assistance under the Prince Edward Island Student Loan
Program, you must:
- Be a Canadian citizen or have permanent resident status.
- Be a resident of Prince Edward Island.
- Demonstrate that your financial resources aren’t enough to meet your
educational and living costs during the time you are in school.
