Career and Disability Resources Fair - University of Toronto Scarborough

You are invited to participate in a Career and Disability Resources Fair at the University of Toronto Scarborough on Monday, April 30 from 10:00am-1:00pm. This event is part of a Career and Disability Symposium, our first Job Search Strategies conference for students with a disability which is designed to equip them with the necessary strategies, tools, skills and confidence to find and keep work. This 1-day conference includes interactive workshops, panel discussions, keynote speakers, networking events and a resource fair. We anticipate 40-60 students and recent graduates to attend this event. For more information on the symposium see uoft.me/cdsymposium

Organizations that provide programs and/or resources to help students with a disability find employment are invited to this event. There is no cost to participate and refreshments and lunch will be provided.

The Career and Disability Symposium is designed to prepare students with disabilities for the world of work. This symposium includes interactive sessions, panel discussions, and a resource fair covering topics on identifying personal strengths and understanding how to leverage them in today's workplace, disclosure, accommodation and non-traditional job search and work environments.

10:45-11:30am Keynote: Maayan Ziv, Activist, Photographer and Entrepreneur
11:30am-12:30pm Know Yourself – Strengths Identification
Speaker: Ruth Louden, Career Counsellor, Academic Advising & Career Centre, University of Toronto Scarborough
12:30-1:30pm LUNCH and Resource Fair
1:30-2:30pm Skills and Tools for Landing Employment - Disclosure & Accommodation
Speaker: Dr. Mahadeo Sukhai, Head of Research and Chief Accessibility Officer for the CNIB, and the Director of Research for the National Educational Association of Disabled Students.

2:40-3:40pm Don't Do It Alone – Student Panel
Hear from current students and graduates with disabilities who are at various stages of their career path about tips and strategies for finding work
3:40-4:00pm Closing Remarks: Dr. Mahadeo Sukhai

Registration is now available via the Career Learning Network and will close on April 24 at 9am.

4. Click on Conference Attendee (UTSC) (note: grad students should choose UTSG) and complete the registration survey.
