Employment Accessibility Resource Network (EARN)
6th Annual Conference of the Employment Accessibility Resource Network (EARN) - Ottawa
Ottawa, Ontario
June 6, 2018
The Employment Accessibility Resource Network (EARN) invites you to attend our 6th Annual Conference on Wednesday June 6th, 2018
from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. at Ottawa City Hall.

This year's conference is not just about great conversations, but about making change happen! We will help you take the strategies shared throughout the day and plan for implementation back at the workplace.

The day will include:

Contributions and strategic resources from the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, the Mental Health Commission of Canada, and Ottawa Public Health among others;

Local job seekers and employers who will share their experiences to help you better understand the current barriers and the opportunity that you have to attract and retain great talent;

A focus group to help us better understand what support and resources local employers want to access; and

A networking session where you will meet some of the job seekers supported by EARN partners.

The goal of this year's conference is to provide strategies and resources for employers to create a more inclusive workplace experience throughout the employee lifecycle. This will ensure that you are equipped to attract and retain the best employees. Additionally we want HR professionals and hiring managers to be able to recognize and reduce the systemic and attitudinal barriers that may exist around hiring someone with a disability, with some of this year's conversation focused on mental health.
We are excited that Natacha Dupuis, a Canadian Military veteran and Invictus Games Champion, will be joining us as our keynote speaker:
Natacha Dupuis is a Canadian Military veteran who was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) as a result of witnessing the gruesome death of two of her brothers-in-arms. Natacha found motivation to regain control over her injury and her life through sport and participating in the Invictus Games. In honor of her fallen comrades and for the benefit of all Canadians Natacha has chosen to share her story. She hopes her example of overcoming personal tragedy will inspire others facing adversity not to give up as the world holds great surprises for those who are willing to adopt an open and positive attitude.
