Canadian Federation of Students (CFS)

The CFS was formed in 1981 to provide a voice to all Canadian postsecondary students on issues at the national and provincial levels. Today, the Federation represents more than 400,000 students from 60 colleges and universities across the country.

The Canadian Federation of Students is responsible to the students it represents on issues relevant to post-secondary education, such as tuition and accessibility. The Federation is a resource for information on your rights as a student, financial assistance, and many other subjects. In addition to its work advocating for student issues, the CFS also provides a student discount card, a health plan for students, and a post-secondary travel agency called TravelCUTS. CFS includes representation for a number of equity-seeking groups in its constituency groups. A Constituency Group for Students with Disabilities sets disability policy within the Federation and is active in CFS campaigning affecting students with disabilities. The National Educational Association of Disabled Students works closely with the federation on issues of common concern and interest.
