Equity Through Education Student Awards and Holly Bartlett Memorial Bursary
The National Educational Association of Disabled Students (NEADS) is now accepting applications for the NEADS Equity through Education Student Awards Program and the Holly Bartlett Memorial Bursary. These awards are being offered to encourage full access to post-secondary education for persons with disabilities enrolled in undergraduate, graduate or professional degree programs at recognized Canadian universities, or in certified diploma programs at Canadian colleges. Up to 12 outstanding applicants, who meet the criteria of the Equity Through Education Student Awards Program, will be receiving an award in the amount of $3,000 to support the costs of their tuition and student fees. One deserving applicant will receive the new Holly Bartlett Memorial Bursary in the amount of $1,000.

Repaying Your Student Loans
Human Resources and Skills Development Canada message:
Are you graduating or leaving school?
Your government student loan(s) may come from the federal government and or your provincial/territorial government. This means you could have more than one loan to pay back.
The National Student Loan Service Centre (NSLSC) will send your Consolidation Agreement by mail before you are required to start making payments. The Agreement sets the terms for the repayment of your Canada Student Loan; this is the federal portion of your loan. You’ll have to make a number of decisions, including the type of interest rate and how long you’ll take to repay your loan. Depending on your situation, you might also receive another Consolidation Agreement by mail for your provincial or territorial student loan.
You don’t have to make any payments on your student loan(s) for the first six months after you leave school; however, interest will be added to your Canada Student Loan during these six months.

Access-Ed: Promoting Universal Design in Higher Education
The ACCESS-ed Project is a model demonstration project. It is one of about two dozen demonstration projects to ensure a quality higher education for students with disabilities that are funded by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Postsecondary Education.
The purpose of the project is to develop and test a process for delivering low-cost universal design of instructional, information media, and physical environments to higher education campuses. The project is directed by Dr. Roger O. Smith and includes a broad interdisciplinary team based in the Rehabilitation Research Design & Disability (R2D2) Center at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Strategic Approaches to Disabled Student Engagement (2010) published in the U.K.
In 2008, the Higher Education Academy (HEA) and Equality Challenge Unit (ECU) based in London, England worked in partnership to develop a new project, supporting a group of higher education institutions (HEIs) in developing initiatives to increase and embed the engagement of disabled students. From this project ECU and the HEA have jointly published practical guidance titled Strategic Approaches to Disabled Student Engagement (2010). The report draws on the strategies and experiences of seven higher education institutions from England and Wales.

AQEIPS Bursary Program 2010-2011
The Quebec Association of Post-Secondary Disabled Students (AQEIPS) is proud to announce its Bursary Program for students living with disabilities. This program aims to recognize the social commitment of students living with disabilities (visual, hearing, and motor impairments, chronic illnesses, learning disabilities, etc.), as well as their efforts in pursuing post-secondary study. Through this program AQEIPS seeks to help offset some of the additional costs associated with a disability, costs that may limit access to post-secondary education for this group of students.
Each year, AQEIPS awards at least five (5) bursaries of $500 or more to outstanding applicants.

Bourses d'études Action-Éducation et la Bourse d'étude Holly Bartlett
L'Association nationale des étudiant(e)s handicapé(e)s au niveau postsecondaire (NEADS) accepte maintenant les candidatures pour son programme de bourses d'études Action-Éducation et la bourse d’étude Holly Bartlett. Ces bourses sont offertes aux étudiants ayant une déficience afin de favoriser leur accès aux études postsecondaires, et ce, en les aidant à poursuivre leur formation au niveau du certificat, du baccalauréat, des études supérieures ou professionnelles dans une université ou un collège canadien reconnu. On offrira jusqu'à 12 bourses d'une valeur de 3 000 $ à des candidats méritants qui respectent les critères du programme Action-Éducation afin de les aider à régler les frais d'inscription et de scolarité. Un candidat méritant recevra la nouvelle bourse d’étude Holly Bartlett d’un montant de 1 000 $.
L'organisation de ce concours est possible grâce au programme Action-Éducation de BMO Marchés des capitaux, une initiative ayant pour but de créer un environnement de travail plus diversifié en offrant des possibilités de formation aux gens qui en ont le plus besoin. En mai 2006, NEADS a été l'un des bénéficiaires canadiens des dons recueillis au cours de la deuxième journée boursière Action-Éducation. C'est au moyen de cette contribution que nous avons pu offrir des bourses d'études Action-Éducation aux étudiants handicapés du postsecondaire.

Remboursement des Prêts
Ressources humaines et Développement des Compétences Canada message :
Tu es sur le point d’obtenir ton diplôme ou de terminer tes études?
Ton prêt ou tes prêts étudiants du gouvernement peuvent provenir du gouvernement fédéral et ou du gouvernement de ta province ou de ton territoire.
Le CSNPE t’enverra un contrat de consolidation par courrier avant que tu sois tenu de commencer à effectuer des paiements. Le contrat énonce les conditions de remboursement de ton prêt d’études canadien, c’est-à-dire la partie fédérale de ton prêt. Tu devras prendre certaines décisions, par exemple déterminer le temps qu’il te faudra pour rembourser ton prêt et le type de taux d’intérêt qui s’appliquera. Selon ta situation, tu pourrais aussi recevoir un autre contrat de consolidation par courrier pour ton prêt étudiant provincial ou territorial.

Access-ed : un projet de promotion de la conception universelle au niveau des études supérieures
Le projet ACCESS-ed est en fait environ deux douzaines de projets de démonstration de modèles visant à assurer aux étudiants handicapés un accès à des études supérieures de qualité. L’initiative est financée par l’Office of Postsecondary Education (bureau des études supérieures) du ministère de l’Éducation des États-Unis.
Le projet a pour but de mettre au point et de tester un processus en vue d’offrir aux campus d’établissements d’enseignement postsecondaire la conception universelle à faible coût de méthodes d’enseignement, de médias d’information et d’environnements matériels. Il est dirigé par le Dr Roger O. Smith qui travaille avec une équipe interdisciplinaire diversifiée basée au Rehabilitation Research Design & Disability (R2D2) Center (un centre qui s’occupe de réadaptation, de recherche et de conception liées aux personnes handicapées) de l’University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Publication en 2010 de Strategic Approaches to Disabled Student Engagement au Royaume-Uni
En 2008, le Higher Education Academy (HEA) and Equality Challenge Unit (ECU), basés à Londres, en Grande-Bretagne, ont collaboré à un nouveau projet en vue d’aider un groupe d’établissements postsecondaires à mettre au point des initiatives en vue d’accroître et de maintenir l’engagement des étudiants handicapés. En se fondant sur les résultats de ce projet, l’ECU et la HEA ont publié conjointement un guide pratique intitulé Strategic Approaches to Disabled Student Engagement (2010). Le rapport s’inspire des stratégies et expériences de sept établissements d’enseignement postsecondaire de la Grande-Bretagne et du pays de Galles.

AQEIPS Programme de bourses 2010-2011
L’Association québécoise des étudiants ayant des incapacités au postsecondaire (AQEIPS) offrira cette année au moins cinq (5) bourses d’au moins 500 $ chacune à des étudiant(e)s ayant des incapacités. Par ces bourses, l’AQEIPS tente de réaliser trois (3) grands objectifs, soit :
Encourager les personnes ayant des limitations fonctionnelles à poursuivre les études postsecondaires;
Encourager les étudiants ayant des limitations fonctionnelles à défendre leurs droits et favoriser leur engagement social;
Aider les étudiants ayant des limitations fonctionnelles à palier aux coûts additionnels inhérents à leur déficience.
