University of Winnipeg Disability Justice Collective meetings in 2020

The Disability Justice Collective meetings are up and running again at the University of Winnipeg! They will be every Monday, starting January 13, during free period (12:30 PM -1:20 PM).

Purposes of this Student Group
• To provide opportunities for U of W students living with disabilities to meet each other and support one another
• To identify barriers to accessibility, both on campus and beyond, and brainstorm ways to advocate for solutions
• To share news and info important to students with disabilities

Who Is Eligible And How To Become A Member
• University of Winnipeg students who live with disabilities and their allies who wish to advocate for increased accessibility can become members
• Membership is free
• Become a member by attending a scheduled meeting
• Members are welcome but not required to attend all scheduled meetings

Location of Meetings
• Meetings will be held in the Access Lounge located in the Mezzanine level of the Bulman Student Centre
• The Access Lounge is a space where students living with disabilities can study, rest or socialize. It has many accessibility features including an automatic door, 2 powered height adjustable desks, adjustable office/student chairs, 2 accessible Mac computers, powered window blinds, and a sofa.
• Get your Keyscan card from the UWSA Office to access the lounge

Meetings are held every Monday during free period (12:30-1:20 PM)

The Access Lounge

The Access Lounge is a space on campus dedicated to students who are disabled by barriers. This space is for those students to study, hang out or complete course work.
