Canada Association of Graduate Studies (CAGS) annual conference
59th Annual CAGS Conference
CARE, SOCIAL JUSTICE, AND INCLUSION IN GRADUATE STUDIES
The Canadian Association for Graduate Studies (CAGS) is excited to announce the opening of registration for its 59th Annual Conference, to be held in a virtual format from 1-5 November 2021. For nearly sixty years deans, associate deans, administrators, faculty members, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students have gathered at our annual conference to learn and share ideas about the improvement of graduate studies, research, and administration. The title of this year’s conference – Care, Social Justice, and Inclusion in Graduate Studies – reflects a vibrant and forward-looking vision of the future of graduate education in Canada.
The 59th Annual CAGS Conference will include all of the elements typically featured at our in-person conference, as well as some new opportunities to share, learn, and connect with colleagues and friends. We are excited to leverage a sophisticated virtual platform to offer an expanded slate of workshops, panel presentations, and keynote addresses, as well as award ceremonies, special guest speakers, and interactive social events. The conference will bring together a diverse community of participants from across Canada who share an interest in transforming graduate education. Conference content will be offered in both French and English, and each event will feature integrated remote simultaneous interpretation.
Topics of discussion at our annual conference will include:
Reimagining graduate education
Transforming academic culture
Mental health and wellbeing
Inclusion, diversity, and equity
Anti-black racism and racial equality
Indigenization of the academy and support for Indigenous students
Graduate supervision and mentorship
