You Are Invited to an Arts-Based Coffee House!
Join the National Educational Association of Disabled Students (NEADS) for a Coffee House on March 23rd, from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm ET. Participants of our project titled ‘Housing and the Politics of Access: An Art-Based Inquiry’ have spent the past two months reflecting on accessibility and housing in Ontario by creating a piece of art. During the Coffee House, our participants will share their creation process and share the final product. Come explore with us the interconnection between arts and disability advocacy!
ASL interpretation and closed captioning will be provided. Registration is required – please register here. For further information and/or to discuss access needs, please contact Chloée C. Godin-Jacques, NEADS’ Educational Programming Director, at chloee.godinjacques@neads.ca
About NEADS
The National Educational Association of Disabled Students (NEADS) is a by-and-for, cross-disability, cross-Canada charitable organization supporting full access to education and employment for disabled post-secondary students and graduates. NEADS works across three strategic areas of debt reduction, experience in-class and on-campus, and employment. By doing so, we offer a variety of events, resources, reports, financial assistance programs, and opportunities for disabled students and graduates.
We collaborate with post-secondary stakeholders, other non-governmental organizations, employers, disability service providers, and community members to improve opportunities in higher education and the labour market for disabled students. We also provide ongoing advice to Employment and Social Development Canada and provincial / territorial governments and work to promote government programs and services that support higher education for disabled students.
About the Project
Housing and the Politics of Access: An Art-Based Inquiry stems from a partnership between the Canadian Centre for Housing Rights (CCHR) and NEADS. The project aims to explore how disabled students and recent graduates navigate precarious housing while in post-secondary education and early stages of employment.
