I am a Registered Social Worker with the SASW, graduated in 2006.

My final practicum was with: Office of the Ombudsman Saskatchewan: Research project queried both internal & external obstacles to persons with cognitive, learning, & mental health disabilities & acquired brain injuries, when accessing services of the Ombudsman, including recognition of current practices and recommendations for future change.

Awards: University of Regina Celebration Award 2006 – Based on submission of experiences as a student with a disability & recommendations for future disability issues at the University of Regina.

My working life has included: Factory work after school as a teenager in Winnipeg, Telemarketing while my children were young.

After losing a career as a Territorial Sales manager in Southern Sask and Manitoba in the food industry due to NAFTA, and raising my family, I spent four years earning my BSW degree.

Social work student I worked part time in the “Long Term Wards, Child Protection, Adoptions and Teen and Young Parent, & Foster Care units. I was also an Income Assistance worker at Social Services for a short time after graduating.

I Tutored Foreign Students in conversational English to make gas money while in University. Worked as a Teaching Assistant for three instructors in my fourth year. Taught as a Substitute for a few classes at SIAST regional college

From 2007-2009, I created and facilitated the Resource and Counselling Office for individuals of the Salvation Army Waterston Centre Hostel, Dormitory and Supportive Residential Program in conjunction with CBO’s, government agencies, and families. The position required a competent understanding of and ability to address barriers that impact daily living of homeless male clients as a result of: poverty, illiteracy, addictions, racism, mental health disabilities, intellectual, cognitive, and physical disabilities.
