The Department of Social Science, Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies, York University, invites applications for a tenure-track Teaching Stream position at the Assistant Professor level in Critical Approaches to Social Science Inquiry to commence July 1st, 2020. The successful candidate will be expected to teach and develop undergraduate courses across the curriculum and to assume a key pedagogical leadership and service role in the Department. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. All York University positions are subject to budgetary approval.

A PhD in a relevant Social Science discipline or interdisciplinary degree program related to the Social Sciences with expertise in critical research methodologies is required. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in teaching a critical approach to interdisciplinary methods (both qualitative and quantitative); an understanding of theories of social science methods; and have demonstrated experience, or demonstrated potential to engage, with curricular planning and large course management. Demonstrated ability working with teaching assistants is an asset. The successful candidate may teach courses in one or more of our 9 undergraduate programs (see here: http://wkls.sosc.laps.yorku.ca/ ) and a core methodology course, based on the teaching strengths of the applicant. Pedagogical innovation in high priority areas such as experiential education and technology enhanced learning is preferred.
