Canadian Disability Policy Alliance releases report on Government Offices Most Responsible for Disability Issues across Canada
Shannon Jones, March 24, 2020
Locating and navigating government disability services is often described as difficult and frustrating. In some ways, there is little wonder that it is, since disability is such a complex issue, and disability services span different levels of government (federal & provincial), as well as different ministries or departments within government. We have attempted to identify the “office most responsible” for disability issues in each jurisdiction in Canada, to at least provide a starting place for inquiries about disability policy, supports, services and information. The report Canadian Disability Policy Alliance Government Offices Most Responsible for Disability Issues across Canada provides contact information, as well as a brief analysis of where disability policy is primarily located in each government. We conclude with a summary of where each jurisdiction is at in terms of accessibility legislation. To hopefully allow you to avoid this scenario, click here to view this brief report.
