Enhancing Accessibility in Post-Secondary Education Institutions


Many PSE institutions have formal policies for the accommodation of students with disabilities, to ensure compliance with provincial and federal human rights legislation, and understand the benefit of ensuring that these students have barrier-free access to PSE. These formal disability policies can help solidify an institutionís commitment to programs, services, and an overall academic community accessible to people with disabilities.

In consultation with a sample of Canadian PSE institutions, the following best practices in the design and content of formal disability policies were identified.
